Gerda Henkel Stiftung

The Gerda Henkel Stiftung foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports projects in the humanities. It supports research by scholars around the world and awards scholarships especially to up and coming scholars

Review of applications usually occurs in April and November.

In 2012, the organization distributed the following categories of grants: <11% Legal History, History of Science, Prehistory and Early History, Islamic Studies, miscellaneous, and Archaeology; 13% Art History; 16.9% Interdisciplinary Projects; and 40+% History.

Current grant programs include:

Wells Mountain Foundation ‘Empowerment through Education Scholarship’ 2014

Wells Mountain Foundation (WMF) is inviting applications from post-secondary school students in developing or under-developed countries for ‘Empowerment through Education Scholarship’ 2014. The major aim of the scholarship scheme is to support students in extreme poverty with tuition fee, books and supplies, and related expenses to carry out their post-secondary level (college, university, polytechnic, trade school) education.

The scholarship is for the full period of study in a condition that the recipient maintain good grades, perform community service and provide copies of all semester reports and school grades as they are received.

Students pursuing education in health care, social work, education, social justice, as well as, professions that help the economy and progress of the country such as computers, engineering, agriculture and business are highly encouraged to apply. WMF Scholarship ranges from $300 to $3,000 covering tuition and fees, books and materials, and room rent.

Eligibility Criteria –

    Student must be from developing nation with financial need to complete studies and must study in developing nation with the scholarship.
    The student must have completed secondary education with good to excellent grades, and must plan to live and work in their own country after they graduate.
    The applicant must have volunteered or be willing to volunteer during the scholarship phase.
    Applicants who apply before receiving official acceptance letter for admission to the school will be eligible for the scholarship only after s/he is accepted.

Complete application includes – a clear personal photo, two letters of recommendation, a personal statement, completed essay questions, official transcripts of grades from secondary schools, an official key from the school to interpret those grades, and results from national exam. Application must be submitted through online application system.

Sussex Scholarship for Nigerian and Pakistani Students

University of Sussex is inviting fee paying students from Nigeria and Pakistan in Masters Course in the University to apply for ‘Sussex Nigeria Scholarship’ 2014. The scholarship is worth £3,000 fee reduction support to the students.

Students who are successfully admitted to an eligible Masters course in the University will be offered a chance to apply for the scholarship automatically.

Eligibility Criteria –

    Applicants must be self-financing student from Nigeria and Pakistan and have accepted an offer of a full-time place on a Masters course at the University of Sussex commencing in September 2014.
    Students whose tuition fees are funded by an external funding body are not eligible.
    Students who have been offered any other Sussex scholarship are not eligible.
    Students applying for or enrolled in the following courses are not eligible – postgraduate diplomas, graduate entry LLB, common professional examination/graduate diploma Law, graduate diploma in Economics, Masters degree in Social Work, Social Work post qualifying masters degree, PGCE courses and schools direct teaching courses, MSc Automotive Engineering, master of education (two years part-time), MA degrees in IDS, Pre-Masters degrees and diplomas taught at partner colleges validated by Sussex. MA degrees in IDS that are eligible to apply are – MA Gender and Development, and MA in Climate Change and Development.

Education for Sustainable Energy Development Scholarships for Master’s Level

Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership is accepting applications from Masters level students for ‘Education for Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) scholarship’ 2014. ESED scholarship aims to support outstanding students pursuing advanced studies in sustainable energy development and to encourage meaningful contributions to the collective body of knowledge about this subject.

The scholarships amount US$ 23,000 per year for up to two years are offered under ESED Scholarships to each of up to 10 students in Master’s level.

Eligibility Criteria –

    Applicants must plan to undertake studies at the Masters level in areas directly related to sustainable energy development.
    Applicants must be citizens of the developing countries and territories identified for OECD official development aid in the DAC List of ODA Recipients.

Complete application includes – passport or birth certificate, curriculum Vitae, copies of transcripts, admission or deferral Letter, program outline, academic reference, and personal reference.

Application must be submitted via online scholarship application system.
