CAFOD support for NGOs Capacity-building


Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) is the overseas development and relief agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. The agency works to create an environment of equal opportunities for men and women irrespective of their race, nationality and religion. 

The mission of CAFOD is “to promote human development and social justice in witness to Christian faith and Gospel values.” It works in partnership with more than 500 organizations in the UK as well as around the world with the objective of reducing poverty. In its effort to achieve the set vision, the agency selects its partners based upon the shared concerns and values. 

CAFOD strengthens its partner organizations by building their skills, resources and systems. The main themes covered by CAFOD include climate change, communications, conflict and peace, corporate social responsibility, debt of the poor countries, education, emergency/disaster, faming and food, gender, globalization, health, HIV/AIDS, human rights, land and housing, mining, refuges and migration, trade and work. CAFOD is working with partner NGOs in a number of countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Colombia, DR Congo, East Timor, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kenya, Liberia and others.
