Call for Proposal 2012-Young Researchers Award-Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF)

GBIF enables free and open access to biodiversity data online. Informatics activities of the Secretariat focus on developing a full suite of information technology infrastructure, architecture, services and tools to serve a fully functional network of participants. This is an international government-initiated and funded initiative focused on making biodiversity data available to all and anyone, for scientific research, conservation and sustainable development.
The main objective of the Young Researchers Award (YRA) is to foster innovative research and discovery in biodiversity informatics by graduate students in masters and doctorate programs at universities in countries participating in the GBIF network.

2012 Tourism Cares Worldwide
Tourism Cares, through its Worldwide Grant Program, is making a difference at cultural, historical and natural tourism-related sites around the world. The nonprofit, tax-exempt public charities may apply for projects to conserve, preserve, or restore the site, or educate visitors to the site. These requests may include brick-and-mortar capital improvement projects or educational programs which will enhance interpretation of the site. In 2012, Tourism Cares intends to give two groups of six Worldwide Grants at $10,000 each for an annual total of $120,000.
Required Eligibility Criteria:
The organization requesting grant funding must be located:
in the United States, and be classified as a bona fide non-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) public charity by the Internal Revenue Service, or be a federally-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribe within the United States
OR
outside the United States, and be classified by the country’s official taxing authority as a non-profit, tax-exempt public charity
Note: Applications from organizations working with, or in, developing countries are welcome.
The Worldwide Grant Application is only available on-line. Paper applications sent in by mail or fax, or e-mailed as attachments, will not be considered.

Vancouver Film School invites 2012 Women in Games Scholarship
Vancouver Film School (VFS) invites application in 2012 Women in Games Scholarship which provides a unique opportunity to win a full-tuition scholarship to the Game Design program at VFS. The acclaimed one-year program is second to none in terms of its depth, hands-on instruction, and respect from the industry. The scholarship mimics the game development and production environment, to prepare our graduates in challenging environment to begin their careers in this rapidly increasing and thrilling industry.
VFS Game Design alumni distinguish themselves throughout the industry. They hold key design and producing positions at companies like Bio Ware, Radical, and Volition, and their credits include Mass Effect 2, Space Marines, Dead Rising 2, Prototype, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and many others. Our female graduates have fared very well as professional game designers, working at studios ranging from EA to Big Park on titles like SOCOM: Fire Team Bravo 3 and Skate 2. Opportunities abound for female Game Design students, and VFS’s full-tuition scholarship can help start one winner on her path to a career in the game industry. This scholarship is worth $32,250 CAD, or up to $49,250 CAD for an international student.
With the help of this scholarship, the candidates will explore the world of games from every facet – what a good game looks and sounds like, how it progresses, and how to design for play. The candidates will go aboard on a journey of discovery and finish rewarded and energized to take the next step towards their dream in the game industry with the help of rigorous one year program.

New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Scholarships
New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Scholarships will host the scholarship which distributes more than $4 million in grant aid and loans. These scholarships are offered through a variety of awards for students in New Hampshire. However, some of the scholarships are also open to Maine and Vermont students who live in border towns.
The best thing about the NHCF Scholarship Program is that one can apply scholarships require filling out an online application to be considered. However, other scholarships offered through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation require a written application and can be found on the scholarship website.
The deadlines for these scholarships vary, but are all in April, May, and June.
