ISSC Seed Funding for The Transformations to Sustainability Program

Deadline: 31 May 2014

The International Social Science Council (ISSC) is accepting grant applications from eligible entities for The Transformations to Sustainability Program. The major aim of the Transformations to Sustainability program is to build scientific understanding of transformative social change in the face of global change and sustainability.

Successful applicants will receive seed funding which allows the researchers or social scientists to build necessary partnerships with colleagues in other disciplines and fields and other countries, to identify and establish contact with relevant societal stakeholders, and to engage them as knowledge partners in the co-design of proposals to develop Transformative Knowledge Networks.

Up to 30 proposals will be awarded up to maximum €30,000 each. The money contributes towards travel, accommodation, workshops and administrative assistance.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants can be individual social science researchers (from academic and other organizations that have a strong focus on research) from any part of the world.
Applicants must have a PhD in the social sciences or at least 5 years full-time equivalent research experience.
Applicants must commit to be available and participate in the Transformations Knowledge Workshop to be held in Potsdam, Germany, in September 2014 or, in case of unavailability, to be represented at the workshop by a colleague who will contribute significantly to the proposed work.

The proposal must be accompanied with curriculum vitae including a list of the 5 most relevant publications to the proposal, written indication of availability and commitment to participate in the Transformations Knowledge Workshop.
