New Zealand Development Scholarship Opportunities


Deadline- May to June each year.
This is the call for applications for the New Zealand development scholarship. The New Zealand development Scholarship is funded by The New Zealand Aid Program, The New Zealand Government’s Overseas A id and development programme.

The purpose of the scholarships is for candidates to gain knowledge and skills through post -graduate study in specific subject areas that will assist in the development of their home country. Awardees are required to return to their home country for at least two years after the completion of their scholarship to apply these new skills and knowledge in government, civil society, or private business organizations.

New Zealand has first-rate education institutions that offer world-recognized qualifications. Successful applicants will have access to excellent academic knowledge in quality facilities. The scholarships include financial support for tuition, living costs while in New Zealand, and airfares. The partners of students are eligible for a work visa that allows them to live and work in New Zealand for the duration of their partner’s study.

Eligible countries-
  • Applications for New Zealand Development Scholarships are welcome from the following countries:
  • Africa: Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia
  • Asia: China, Mongolia, Nepal, Timor-Leste
  • Latin America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua,
  • Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay
Note: Applicants living, studying or working outside their home country are not eligible for this scholarship

Minimum requirement-
The minimum academic requirements for entry into The University of Auckland postgraduate study is an equivalent to a 3 year NZ University bachelor degree with a B average or higher. The minimum English language requirements for entry into The University of Auckland postgraduate study is IELTS

(International English Language Testing System Certificate) with an overall score of 6.5 and no band less than 6.0 or a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) paper based 575 with a TWE of 4.5 or internet based (iBT) 90, writing 21.
