Cordaid’s 2013 Healthcare Award for Promoting the Health of Young People

Cordaid (Catholic Organisation for Relief & Development Aid) is accepting applications for the 2013 Cordaid Healthcare Award for NGOs working for the promotion of the health of the young people. The Award provides a grant of € 10.000 to further strengthen activities in this field.

Youth-led Organisations, Community Based Organisations, Faith Based Organisations, Civil Society Organisations, (Non-) Governmental Organisations, and International Development Organisations can submit nominations. Cordaid wishes to put one organisation in the spotlight, which makes a difference to the health of young people in fragile areas. At the same time Cordaid also seeks to gain greater insight into how initiatives are developed and implemented. In particular initiatives that target both sexes, that support youth entrepreneurship and/or collaborate with (local) private actors.

The criteria for organisations selected are those who:

    Display outstanding innovative approaches to promote the health of young people;
    Are active in the above-mentioned field in one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Zimbabwe;
    Provide evidence of substantial impact and/or success achieved in this field;
    Take into consideration the sustainability and scaling up of the initiatives.

There will be three review rounds to identify the award winner:

The first Review Round will consist of an eligibility check (form and content) by the Cordaid project team.

The highest scoring 25% of all valid nominations received will be reviewed in Round 2 by a Cordaid Review Team, whereas a shortlist of the 10 overall highest scoring organisations will be reviewed in Round 3.

The Review Panels for round 3 will be external and composed of representatives of a variety of (inter)national development organisations with expertise in the field of health of young people.

Promoting Registered Employment II Grant Scheme

EuropeAid is accepting applications for Promoting Registered Employment II Grant Scheme. The mission of this program is to contribute to the promotion of registered employment and decreasing unregistered employment in Turkey.

Objectives-

    To improve the capacity of relevant local actors on combating unregistered employment
    To promote innovative applicable activities for reducing unregistered employment
    To facilitate and encourage co-operation between organizations operating in labour market such as public bodies, semi-public bodies, chambers, social partners, NGO’s, universities etc
    To support bipartite and tripartite social dialogue mechanisms and inter-agency cooperation
    To raise the awareness of social security among employees and employers in order to make registered employment an attractive option for employers and employees
    To find effective methods for promoting registered employment at regional and local level
    To support sectoral or company based institutionalization

The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is € 10.400.000. The planned duration of an action will be 12 months.

    be established in  a Member State of the European Union or in a country that is a beneficiary of the Council Regulation (EC) No 1085/2006 of 17 July 2006 establishing an Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), or in a country that is a beneficiary of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument, or in a Member State of the European Economic Area. This obligation does not apply to international organisations

Global Development Network’s Global Research Competition

The Global Development Network (GDN) invites researchers from developing countries and transition economies and best performing researchers from Regional Research Competitions (RRCs) to submit research proposals for its second round of the Global Research Competition (GRC) 2013.

The GRC is a competitive grant program under GDN’s Global Research Capacity Building Program. In this annual competition, social science researchers from developing countries and transition economies are invited to team up with researchers from around the world on collaborative interregional or cross-country research projects. The competition is inter-regional/cross-country both in terms of its analytic scope and team composition.

The research themes for the 2013 round of the GRC are:

    Theme 1: Inclusive and Sustainable Growth
    Theme 2: Food Security
    Theme 3: Political, Economic and Social Transformations

    Researchers from developing and transition countries: The GRC is open only to researchers from developing countries and transition economies (interested in interregional or cross-country research collaboration), with the requirement that they need to be citizens and current residents of any of these countries. For e.g. an Angolan residing in Chile is eligible to apply. The applicants can be asked to submit proof of their citizenship and residency through documents with legal standing, at any point during the competition.
        Please note that all personal information details as provided in the application (and CV) should be factually correct, else the application will be liable for disqualification. Any missing details may be asked to be provided.
        Inter-regional or cross-country team composition:
        Individual researchers: from developing and transition countries, seeking support in finding fellow researchers (with similar research thematic interest) to form eligible inter-regional or cross-country teams can apply for the competition. GDN will provide support to all individual applicants in finding peers for collaboration.
        Team applicants: pre-formed inter-regional or cross-country teams are encouraged to apply for the competition.
        Please note that in the selection process, only applications from eligible teams will be considered, so all applicants must eventually form inter-regional or cross-country teams i.e. include members from and research on, more than one developing country/region.         The teams may include at least two members and up to four.
        Applicants may collaborate with other applicants from same or different subdisciplines of social sciences.
        An individual may only be part of one team. Multiple collaborations will not be considered.
    Age:
        The upper age limit for an applicant is 45 years as of 15 June, 2013.
        The average age of the entire team must be below 40 years as of 15 June, 2013.
        Researchers (especially, female researchers) below the age of 35 years (as of 15 June, 2013) are strongly encouraged to apply.
    Expression of Interest (EOI) submission: Teams can submit only one EOI under only one theme.
        All team members must contribute equally to the research, at all stages. This should be clearly reflected in the Proposal.
    Global Training Workshop: Research teams with most innovative and interesting EOIs will be invited to attend a Global Training Workshop before the final selection of grant recipients. Shortlisted teams with more than two researchers must nominate any two researchers (from two different countries/regions) to attend the workshop.
    Call for Proposals (CFP): All eligible inter-regional or cross-country teams (including those that are not invited to attend the Global Training Workshop) can submit their full research proposals.

Call for Proposals for Environmental Governance and Mainstreaming Project

Proposals are accepted for Environment Governance and Mainstreaming Project funded under EuropeAid. The mission of this program is to increase environmental awareness of the public in relation to environmental governance and climate change, and the progress towards environmental sustainability in Sierra Leone.
