The Asia Foundation is inviting young leaders of Sri Lanka to apply for Lankacorps fellowships 2014. The major aim of the fellowship program is to foster the involvement and understanding of young members of the expatriate Sri Lankan community who have limited in-depth experience with the country of their heritage.
The fellowship program is an opportunity for young leaders of Sri Lankan heritage to professionally engage in social, cultural, and economic development activities in Sri Lanka. The Fellows need to live and work for six months in Sri Lanka, in host organizations identified by The Asia Foundation in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, exploring their roots while giving back to the society.
The fellowship period is of six months beginning from 1 July to 31 December 2014. Fellowship will cover roundtrip international airfare, in-country expenses (including a monthly stipend), and health insurance.
Eligibility Criteria –
Applicant must be of Sri Lankan heritage with US or Canadian citizenship; at least 21 of age, and not over 30, on the projected start date.
Applicant must have at least a bachelor’s degree with high academic achievement.
Applicant must demonstrate leadership skills and civic engagement;
Applicant must be in excellent physical health.
Complete application includes personal statement, statement of purpose, two letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae/resume, and proof of US or Canadian citizenship. Application must be submitted through online application system.
