Tourism
Cares is accepting proposals for the 2012 Worldwide
Grant Program. The grant program provides funding
suport of $10,000 to each selected grant recipient.
Bona
fide, nonprofit, tax-exempt public charities may apply
for projects to conserve, preserve, or restore the site, or educate visitors to
the site. These requests may include brick-and-mortar capital improvement
projects, or educational programs that will enhance interpretation of the site.
The
organization requesting grant funding must be
located:
- in the United States, and be classified as a bona fide non-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) public charity by the Internal Revenue Service, or be a federally-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribe within the United States
OR
- outside the United States, and be classified by the country’s official taxing authority as a non-profit, tax-exempt public charity
Note:
Applications from organizations working with,
or in, developing
countries are welcome
The
Worldwide Grant Application is only available on-line. Paper applications sent
in by mail or fax, or e-mailed as attachments, will not be considered. Also,
any items submitted under separate cover will not be considered.
The
first step of the application process is the Letter of Inquiry phase; this is
when a bona fide nonprofit, tax-exempt public charity fills out the Letter of
Inquiry in the on-line application and includes the Required Attachments. Once
Tourism Cares has verified and reviewed the applications submitted at the Step
One – Initial Letter of Inquiry Phase for a particular deadline, some
organizations are invited to submit a Step Two – Full Proposal, which is the
next step of the application process.
Deadline:
2 July 2012.
