The
Irmgard Coninx Research Grant is available for conference
participants attending the Conference on “From Rebellion to Revolution:
Dynamics of Political Change” 17-20 October 2012 16th Berlin Roundtables on
Transnationality, October 17 – 20, 2012, WZB. The conference wants to examine
the dynamics of political (and often violent) unrest that lead to, or at least
aims at, fundamental structural transformations of political regimes and
alterations in power relations between the masses and the elites.
Based
on an international essay competition, approximately 45 applicants will be
invited to discuss their research,
concerns and agendas with peers and prominent scholars in Berlin. The Irmgard
Coninx Foundation will cover travel to and
accommodation in Berlin.
A
call for papers has been extended to scholars
(max. up to 10 years after Ph.D.) and practitioners (e.g. workers in governmental
or urban services, NGOs,
journalists).
The
Irmgard Coninx Research Grant is designed as recognition of an outstanding
contribution to the Roundtables.
The
grant winners will receive a scholarship for an
up to three-month stay at the Social Science Research Centre Berlin (WZB). The
grant can be used for a variety of purposes relating to the grant winner’s
academic interests: field research, general readings, preparation of
publications, writing of Ph.D. thesis, building new contacts in Berlin, and so
forth. The foundation provides accommodation in Berlin, covers the travel costs
to and from Berlin and pays a monthly stipend of 1,000 Euro.
