Open Society Foundations funding opportunity for registered NGOs to develop and curate thematic pages on a new global youth website


The Youth Initiative of the Open Society Foundations (OSF) is currently seeking proposals from eligible registered NGO’s for up to $10,000 in funding to develop and curate thematic pages on a new global youth portal and community being developed at www.youthpolicy.org. Youthpolicy.org aims to consolidate knowledge and information on youth policies across the international sector, ranging from analysis and formulation to implementation and evaluation.

Themes
Potential themes for website pages include, but are not limited to:
Participation and Citizenship; Activism and Volunteering; Children and Youth Rights; Youth with Disabilities; Global Drug Policy; Community Work; Research and Knowledge; Informal Learning; Youth, Environment and Sustainability; Multiculturalism and Minorities; Youth Justice.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Organizations seeking funding must be registered NGOs. Please note: grants will not be made to individuals or for-profit entities.
  • Proposals should not exceed $10,000 or one year in length.
  • Proposals must outline how the theme will be addressed in all its aspects, how content will be produced on a regular basis, how and how many contributing authors and bloggers will be involved, and how users interested in the theme will be driven to and engaged at the site.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and BuddyPress is an advantage.
  • All proposals must be submitted in English.
  • Open Society Foundations by law does not earmark any grant funds for lobbying on any legislation (international or domestic) as defined in the U.S. tax code.
  • OSF content on youthpolicy.org is licensed to the public through a Creative Commons license.
  • Prospective grantees are not required to license their material through a Creative Commons.   A grantee’s decision whether or not to use a Creative Commons license for their Work Product will not affect grant decisions by OSF
About Youthpolicy.org
Youthpolicy.org is a project by Demokratie & Dialog e.V. developed with initial support by the Open Society Foundations.  The portal will serve as a knowledge repository with open-source software that will connect youth policy actors across the globe.

By providing public access to information, youthpolicy.org makes a strategic contribution to evidence based policy development and practice in the youth field.
Serving as a global youth policy knowledge resource and community base, youthpolicy.org will, during the initial period:
  • be designed and programmed to provide information and orientation,
  • be extended and developed to encourage participation and interaction,
  • be equipped and advanced with youth policy news, links and documents,
  • be enlarged and widened by the introduction of a youth policy community,
  • be introduced and promoted as the global youth policy knowledge resource.
Proposals will be considered on a rolling basis.
