UN Fellowships Programme in International Law

The fellowships are awarded to qualified professionals from developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

They enable mid-level government officials and young university teachers of international law etc., to acquire additional knowledge on international law and on the legal work of the United Nations and its associated bodies.

To qualify for the UN Fellowships in International Law, candidates must be between 24 and 40 years old.

They should be law graduates with practical experience in the field of international law acquired by working for a public or private organization or a university.

The Programme will accommodate between 15 and 20 fellowships.

When selecting participants, the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs/UNITAR joint selection board will give due consideration to the candidates' qualifications, to the scope of their professional duties and to adequate geographical and gender distribution of the fellowships.

Applications from female candidates are encouraged.
