ARTHUB provides visual and literary artists a chance

ArtHub is a new organization that provides visual and literary artists a chance to concentrate on their creative efforts by offering free space to live and work. Renovations are underway in a two-story building in downtown Kingman, AZ. Planned completion of the project is in December 2014. The residency program will begin in January 2015. Deadline November 15, 2014.

ArtHub offers space to four artists every four months.  These four artists may work with visual art or literary art.  To be considered for the residency program, please submit an email to kingmanarthub@gmail.com with the following items attached:

 

Between 7 and 10 images of your visual art, or exerpts of your writing  

Please label the images in this format: Title/Year/Medium/Size

Total writing excerpts may be between 1,000 and 2,000 words.

All images must represent art made in the past two years.  All excerpts must have been written in the past three years.

 

Artist's resume

Acceptance to the program is based largely on the merits of the artwork alone.  With this ideal in mind, an artist who does not have an education in the arts should not be detracted from submitting their work.

 

A short statement

Include in this statement what your creative aspirations will be while at ArtHub and how you think the residency will help you accomplish those goals.

 

A photograph and short biography

If you are accepted into the program your photograph will be presented on the ArtHub website, along with brief biographical information.

 

Two letters of recommendation

The letters will preferably come from professionals in the arts.     

 

Submissions dates:

December 1st 2014 for the  January 15th - May 14th 2015 cycle

April 1st 2015 for the June 1st - August 31st 2015 cycle

July 15th 2015 for the September 15th - December 15th 2015 cycle

 

Artists-in-residence are expected to be involved in the community by participating in minimum open studio hours.  They are also expected to give one class/lecture every month throughout their stay.
